MIPCOM 2009 – Interview for B&T and Encore for Interactive Emmy Winner – Marcus Gillezeau

MIPCOM is the global content event for creating, co-producing, buying, selling, financing and distributing entertainment content across all platforms.
Moreover, MIPCOM takes place every year in Cannes, France and is the only place where you can connect, do business, learn and discover future trends, network and cement partnerships face to face on a global level.

I was lucky enough to go to MIPCOM in 2009 on the way to Rome. I was going to Rome to film a week of celebrations documenting the handover of World Youth Day from Australia to Spain, culminating in the first ever live stream from The Vatican.

The then editor of Digital Media and Encore magazine, Natalie Apostolou, couldn’t make MIPCOM at the last minute and so she offered me her Access All Areas Media pass on the condition I covered the event for her.

It was an amazing week where I met many Australians doing some amazing stuff.

The highlight was when Marcus Gillezeau won the Interactive Emmy for Scorched – the first time an Australian had won the award.

After partying the night away, Marcus and I had to do the interview bright and early the next morning – we didn’t too bad considering.
